Thomas Kintanar, MD
A family care physician, Dr. Kintanar joined Lutheran Medical Group in November 2010 when his former group, Associated Family Medical Consultants, of which he was a founding member, joined LMG. Dr. Kintanar provides full-scope family medicine services, including pediatrics and obstetrics. Dr. Kintanar earned a bachelor's degree in microbiology from Indiana University in Bloomington in 1978. He earned a medical degree from Southwestern University Matias H. Aznar Memorial College of Medicine in Cebu City, Philippines, in 1983, and he completed a family medicine residency at the Fort Wayne Medical Education Program in 1986. Dr. Kintanar is a clinical associate professor of medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine. He is on the board of directors at St. Joseph Hospital, where he also serves as the hospital's director of medical education. In addition, he serves on the Lutheran Health Network and the Fort Wayne Medical Education Program boards. Dr. Kintanar is medical director at Coventry Meadows, Glenbrook Nursing Home, Lutheran Life Villages, the Youth Services Center and the Wood Youth Center. He is co-medical director of Heartland Hospice. Dr. Kintanar is board certified by the American Board of Family Practice. He is a member of the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Family Physicians, where he served on the board from 2004 to 2007. He is also a member of the Indiana Academy of Family Physicians, where he currently serves on the board and is past president. Dr. Kintanar, who is also a member of the Indiana State Medical Association and the Fort Wayne Medical Society, is currently president of the Philippine American Association of Family Physicians and is president-elect of the American Association of Primary Care Endoscopy.
