Dr. Susan Averitt is a native of Little Rock, AR where she graduated from Central High School. She received her undergraduate degree from Millsaps College and her medical degree from University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. She then spent four years in Nashville, TN at Vanderbilt University Medical Center completing her pediatric residency and serving as Chief Resident in Pediatrics.

She is a board certified pediatrician who has worked in group practice in Sherwood, AR and McAlester, OK. She has ultimately come to settle in Northwest Arkansas. She has been with Northwest Physician’s LLC for the past six years. In 2009, Dr. Averitt took the leap into a solo practice within our health system. Best Start Pediatrics has provided Dr. Averitt the opportunity to practice her unique style of pediatrics with an emphasis on education, resources, physician leadership and parental involvement.

Dr. Averitt is also the mother of three girls. Her husband, Derrick, is a stay-at-home dad-- allowing her to be a mom but also focus on her career. Most of her free time is spent being a mom, but Dr. Averitt enjoys reading, writing, long walks, and spending time with friends.
