Practicing at Porter since 1988, Sudhakar Garlapati, MD, graduated with a degree in medicine from Osmania University in India and completed his family practice residency at Methodist Hospitals in Gary, Indiana. “Several family members are also physicians, and it is a very noble profession,” Dr. Garlapati commented. “I felt becoming a family physician would allow me to help many different people.” It is the variety of patients he sees from the very young to the very old that is a hallmark of Dr. Garlapati’s practice. “I may see several generations of the same family, and I want them to know that I am available when they need me.” Dr. Garlapati is the Medical Director at Whispering Pines Healthcare Center in Valparaiso and is particularly interested in preventive medicine and the management of chronic illnesses.
