After receiving her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Purdue University North Central, Keri Smith attended Purdue Calumet University where she earned her Masters of Science degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner. “I love being a nurse, but I always knew I wanted to do a little more to help my patients,” she shares. “Being a nurse practitioner allows me to offer patients more individualized care and lets me fulfill my calling in life.” Smith began her career working in the emergency department of an area hospital, before moving to roles as assistant director of a long-term care facility, a patient care coordinator and charge nurse in a pre-operative/post-anesthesia care unit. “Every area I have worked in has helped mold me into the nurse I am today.” Smith grew up in Demotte and is eager to care for the community. “My philosophy of care is to deliver accepting, holistic, safe patient-centered care. I want to help my community become healthier one patient at a time.”
