After receiving her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Indiana Wesleyan University, Helen Anderson continued and earned her family nurse practitioner degree. “I wanted to do more for my patients,” she said. “Working in an office, I can do more primary care and help my patients prevent illnesses.” The education aspect of her career is something Anderson takes very seriously, saying she wants her patients to understand their bodies and how they work. “I think it’s important patients know why they are taking a particular medicine and how that medicine works. I also want to help them see if there’s some type of lifestyle change they can make to help them reduce the numbers of medications they are on.” Before joining DeMotte Physicians, Anderson worked at Porter Hospital in the Cancer Care Center.
