A graduate of Indiana University School of Medicine and a native of Michigan City, Heather Hazel, M.D., completed her Family Practice residency at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in South Bend. “My grandmother was a nurse, and I really admired her,” said Hazel. “But, being a doctor didn’t cross my mind until I was in junior high.” Hazel said she chose family practice because she likes the variety the field affords her, and she enjoys taking care of people in the context of a family. “I see adults of all ages as well as families with children,” Hazel shared. “Because I have children myself, I can relate to so many things parents go through.”
