Diana Olivas, MD
My desire to become a physician began early in life as I saw the care and compassion shown my ill grandmother by the doctors she frequently saw. It taught me being a doctor is about caring for those in need.
I strongly believe health care must be provided in the context of the patient’s life and community, and the best care is patient-centered, team-based and holistic. As a physician, education is my job. I always explain why I recommend a treatment plan and what our goal is. I work side-by-side with my patients to set these goals and create a plan to address the immediate concern, but also to maintain their health.
Even when I see a patient with advanced disease, I explain the human body is resilient. Healthy lifestyle changes, such as diet and exercise, can make an incredible impact on one’s health. I strive to help my patients adapt this kind of lifestyle because of its enormous benefits.
